Pygmalion

In Pygmalion (2005) the artist is observed in an elocution lesson trying to learn accents an improve her English pronunciation. She discovers which sounds identify her ‘foreign’ accent and what makes her stand out in comparison to native English speakers. Personal issues are juxtaposed against broad and open questions of identity. What does Polish identity mean to her outside her country of origin? Would learning to assimilate and alter her accent make her a different person? Could this disguise where she comes from. Does she want to change at all?
